Our Ministry

The members of Kerygma Music Ministry serve with pride, integrity and dedication to our ministry. Through our efforts we hope to uplift the congregation of San Felipe de Jesus Parish through music and to encourage the active participation of all members and visitors in the Holy Prayer of the Mass.

Music is an important and integral part of San Felipe de Jesus worship. Our choir, cantors, and instrumentalists, minister in a special way using their talents to serve the Lord and the parish community.

Our Mission

Our Goal
Kerygma will provide for the music needs of our parish by nurturing worshippers(adults, youth, teens), encouraging musicians, networking ministers, training leaders, and providing resources. Kerygma will also facilitate the music needs of our parish ministries, and other communities as requested for.

Nurturing Worshippers
Helping worshippers experience God and the fullness of His Spirit

Encouraging Musicians
Understanding the challenges of the ministry and spurring musicians on to good works.

Training Leaders
Facilitating music ministry excellence through aggressive, intensive training.

Providing Resources
Equipping memebers in music with relevant, inspiring resources.

All members are required to participate in community service, at least four (4) hours per month; this is to honor our Lord Jesus by given to others.

On the musical field, Kerygma members will:

• Create a solid plan for the music ministry

• Arrange songs in ways that will improve the “flow” in our service.

• Develop the personal attitude toward worship.

• Build a solid foundation that will make the ministry more effective.

• Implement different activities in our worship service for a fuller experience.

• Improve the skill levels so that we are better in our ministry.

• Use various tools to help teach our congregation new songs.

• Balance our natural ability with our spiritual gifts.

• Uncover God’s special plan and purpose specifically for each one of us.

Worship is an experience, it begins with a vision, and worship is directed by God for God.

All members will observe discipline (code of conduct) and a dress code at participating events, including the Holy Mass.

Discipline:
• Includes, the participation of practice and rehearsals held every Wednesday at   18:00 hours at the San Felipe de Jesus Parish classroom, (or alternate day and place as needed).

• Commitment to participate with Parish functions that each member signs up for.

• Be on time, avoid distraction of the group and congregation

• Show respect for the congregation during church services.

• No talking among the group members during service (other than music matters)

• Food and chewing gum are prohibited, liquids may be permitted

• Horse play of any kind will not be tolerated among the membership.

• Abide by the Parish Code of Conduct at all time.

Failure to comply could result on non-participating in parish events or masses and if frequent misconduct and unjustified absents, the dismissal from membership.
